SS Racing

The Spanish Rally-Raid Championship season finished in Requena with a Gas Gas rider on top of the podium and celebrating a new title: Gerard Farrés is the new Spanish Rally-Raid Champion.
In the Valencian town of Requena, Spain, the Gas Gas rider Gerard Farrés was crowned as the Rally-Raid Spanish Champion after winning the third and final round of the championship.?Gerard Farrés, who in 2009 had previously won the title in same place, was more than pleased with a season in which the Gas Gas riders were the stars from the first round. Finally, after suffering from an intestinal infection, Jordi Viladoms was unable to defend as the championship leader and relinquished the possibility of winning the National Rally-Raid crown to the capable hands of his Gas Gas team-mate Farrés.

It has not been an easy day for Gerard Farrés, having been second in the prologue with his Gas Gas EC450F, but in the final day he would set a good pace with no mistakes and ultimately beating his rivals, winning the event with a comfortable lead over second place. Other Team Gas Gas riders were Marc Guasch, unlike the previous race in Lorca, participated in the main category, finishing in the fifth position.

In Requena, the event was organized by the Motorcycle clubs, Club Altiplano Requena and Off Road Valencia which on Saturday began with a prologue race of only 6 kilometers. In Sunday's race, the route was 290 kilometers, with 40 of them on the time clock.

The next challenge for the Gas Gas Rally/Raids riders is the Dakar Rally, which will begin in the town of Rosario Argentina on January 5th, 2014 and will end in the Chilean city of Valparaiso on January 18th, after more than 8,700 kilometers.

Gerard Farrés:?
We had a great final championship, not just because I won the race and the title, but because in this race, there have been many riders and the organization has been brilliant, the roadbook was very well done.?For me it was important to win the championship, especially after so much time changing the bike and team. This year I was unable to do the whole championship and to win it has also been important to Gas Gas and the whole team because it was a good preparation for the Dakar Rally.?It was a pity that Viladoms could not come, but not for what I have done, but because there were no easy opponents and you have to be very focused until the end.?To win the Spanish championship is always important, and getting it on a Spanish brand. This is very important for us, for the team, this title will give us strength to meet our goals".

Marc Guasch: ?
"I think today has been a good race that was well organized and well prepared, because there were constant changes of course it was very easy to make a wrong turn. I have had some doubts and with some notes, I made a little mistake that made me late. The bike was perfect all weekend, and I'm very happy about it. I hope to make the championship next season, as for Rally-Raid riders, this is good to practice the navigation".
