SS Racing

The first official race with Oriol Mena riding a Gas Gas could not be better: Victory in qualifying and also a victory in the main race of ENDU-ROC. Also with Gas Gas, Gerard Farrés, who was second yesterday, and Dani Clos have had good results.
The new rider on the Gas Gas Factory Pons Team, Oriol Mena, has achieved great success in the ENDU-ROC, the big party and the final event of the Spanish Enduro season, held today at the site of Les Comes, near the town of Súria.

The ground was in good condition, although frost on Saturday night left a slippery and delicate surface layer for the Sunday main event, resulting in the riders having to race tactfully. The route of 40 kilometers with two laps, had different characteristics: a motocross course, trails, trials, and open track.

Oriol Mena, who ultimately piloted the Gas Gas EC 250 F with which he will contest the 2014 season, was the best in Superpole which took place on Saturday afternoon, and decided the starting order of the grid for the main event, held on Sunday.

From the start, Mena was the race leader and had enough space in front of the runner-up to the point of being able to manage the difference without taking excessive risks that might complicate the final victory. Oriol scored his first official victory with his new team for next season, the Gas Gas Factory Pons Team. This was the second time at the controls of a Gas Gas, as just a few days ago he took part in the Catalan Enduro Championship event that he also won.

Another of the Official Team Gas Gas riders, Gerard Farrés, on Saturday was second place in Superpole, and on Sunday he decided not to risk suffering any setbacks ahead to his next race: the Dakar Rally. The rider from Manlleu waited for the auto-driver Dani Clos and has accompanied him all the way.

Clos finished fifth in the E1 category, and expressed his satisfaction after letting-loose the power of one of his passions, riding on two wheels, and he had a good finish despite having sore arms.

Oriol Mena:
?"After the start I put myself in front and I went at a good pace throughout the morning. I was able to keep this distance with my rivals and when I finished the first lap, they informed me that I had two minutes over the ones chasing me and then I dedicated myself to riding more relaxed.?I have had no problems with the Gas Gas EC 250 F, which has performed very well. I'm very motivated, and on this good foundation, we will try to work a little harder to be at the top of the E1 class, I think we can achieve good results next season. I am satisfied."
